A Night at the Opera
review by Ed Vincent

Sunday, March 12, at Village Players Theater in Oak Park
may very well start the drama of a new page in history.
Village Players may now be performing in the new Village
Opera House, as many may now think of their haunts on
Madison street.

The quality of singers, the memorable selections,  the varied
themes of humor and tragedy, made one afternoon in Oak
Park a slice of heaven.  There were numerous standing ovations
followed by encores and the hope of more shows of this
quality and venue.  There were discussions in the audience
of more and larger shows of this caliber.  If this was not
a one show only event, many would have bought their tickets
for the next performance, before leaving for home.

Hats off to Mr. Jack Crowe a good singer, but also a great
comedian.  Jack Benny would have been proud of our own
Jack's self deprecating humor.  Crowe has been a blessing
to Oak Park's theater community and after Sunday's show
he may be on his way to a Sainthood.

This is show that thousands should have seen and this
too, being varied in its spectrum, would show opera to the
young and those not accustomed to it.  There were plenty
of opera lovers that I know who were not at this show
and they really missed a tremendous event-but if they had
come they would have had to stand for all the seats were
gone.  Please give us more...........
